Your Local Team of Family Osteopaths in Harwich
Katherine Thurston founded the clinic to provide high-quality, family-focused osteopathic care to the Harwich community. Today, she is proud to lead a team of qualified osteopaths dedicated to helping patients of all ages — from newborns to new mums to older adults — move and feel better.

Katherine
Katherine Thurston is the founder and principal osteopath at Katherine Thurston Family Osteopath in Harwich, Essex. She holds a Master’s degree in Osteopathy from the College of Osteopaths in London and is fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Katherine has a long-standing passion for whole-body osteopathic care, treating people of all ages — from newborns to older adults. She is qualified in massage therapy and uses a wide range of structural, cranial, and visceral techniques to reduce pain, improve movement, and support long-term wellbeing.

Alongside her general practice, Katherine has developed specialist expertise in paediatric and cranial osteopathy. Her interest in caring for babies, children, and postnatal mothers was deepened through advanced training and mentoring at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London. Known for her calm and gentle approach, she provides thoughtful, family-centred care that supports both physical health and emotional reassurance.

Before training as an osteopath, Katherine spent 13 years as a professional musician in the Royal Marines Band Service. This unique chapter — including global tours, captaining the field hockey team, and performing for members of the Royal Family — shaped her calm, focused, and empathetic approach to patient care.

Katherine now lives in Harwich with her husband, two sons, and young daughter. Outside the clinic, she enjoys paddleboarding and plays for her local hockey team — always embracing the balance between family life, fitness, and community.

Austen
Austen brings a wealth of experience to the clinic having worked in clinics in Colchester and Frinton as well as also running his own clinic 'The Willow Health Clinic' in Clacton. Austen has a particular interest in sports and enjoys helping the local community with a range of musculoskeletal problems.

Austen has a passion for osteopathy after having treatment during his teenage years. Most noticeable is when Austen injured his low back, herniating a disc which left him in a wheelchair for several months. Austen has found this experience allows him to understand his patient who may have similar back problems.
